So, now that you know what antioxidants are and how important they are for your health… how can you go about adding them into your diet?
Here are my 5 favorite ways to eat antioxidant-rich foods:
Cacao; it is rich in antioxidants and is the rawest and pure way to eat “chocolate”. I use it in the place of baking cocoa. I also use it to make chocolate protein shakes for myself almost every day. It is delicious, though probably a little more bitter than baking cocoa. I am used to it now and love its chocolate taste. I buy mine online from Amazon.
Berries and Grapes; Yum! These are packed full of antioxidants which can lower inflammation in the body and boost the immune system. We love both grapes and berries frozen for a quick snack. Like dessert, but better!
Almonds/nuts; we have peanut allergies here, but we love almonds and walnuts. The kids especially love almonds and Joey eats walnuts. When I am pregnant, I often grab handfuls of almonds to snack on throughout the day. Almonds are very high in Vitamin B.
Spinach; dark green veggies are high in antioxidants and we most often eat spinach. It alkalizes the body and is a good source of omega 3 fatty acids. We eat it raw in salads and sometimes boiled or sauteed.
Green Tea; I love iced green tea with a couple teaspoons of Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, several drops of Liquid Stevia Extract, and a tiny pinch of ginger. The benefits are many. Try it, you’ll love it!
