When we are born-again children of God through Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit, we should be proclaiming the Gospel eagerly and passionately, with zeal.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth;” Romans 1:16
ZEALOUSLY, adverb Zelusly. With passionate ardor; with eagerness.
“But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you.” Galatians 4:18
Our ultimate purpose on earth is to bring Glory to God, but as humans, we will fail.
“But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.” Romans 7:23-25
In our own works, strength, and will, we fail to do so. Yet, He is still glorified. Because the earth which He created can not help but declare His majesty!
“And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen; Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.” Luke 19:37-40
Christ being glorified and God’s perfect will are not dependent on our ability to do right or be righteous. Praise God! Though we should seek to zealously praise God in every area of our life, we will not ever be able to do so sufficiently enough. However, our weakness just proves God’s strength.
“For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:8-10
I pray that I can zealously serve others as unto the Lord in my role as a wife, mother, and woman. “I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble.” – Helen Keller
Because … “…whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men…” Colossians 3:23
